Doula & Pregnancy
So, what exactly is a doula? A doula is a trained professional with a heartfelt commitment to guiding and offering continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to you and your family before, during, and shortly after childbirth. We wear many hats in this role, which includes advocating for your needs, empowering you to fulfill your specific birthing desires, safeguarding your birth plan, and standing by you with unwavering support if unforeseen changes occur. Throughout labor and delivery, we provide personalized assistance, employing comfort measures and pain relief techniques such as breathing, relaxation, massage, and optimal laboring positions. We also work closely with your partner, reassuring them and guiding them in how they can best comfort and support you.
Embracing the Benefits Extensive research has illuminated the remarkable advantages of enlisting a doula's services, resulting in improved birth outcomes. Expectant mothers who choose a doula's support are two times less likely to encounter complications during childbirth, both for themselves and their baby. Furthermore, the information and encouragement provided by a doula during pregnancy have been shown to enhance a mother's self-confidence and her capacity to influence her own pregnancy and birth outcomes.

What People Are Saying
”This was my 1st natural birth and first homebirth. I am so grateful Shekinah crossed my path when she did before my baby arrived. Shekinah was the calm to my roar. She was the peace to my distress. I’m not sure I could have emotionally made it through my homebirth without her, her support and her reminders to “keep breathing”. (And that awkward moan that my husband still gives me a hard time for!) She was there for me emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. I would hire her again and again and recommend her to allll Momma’s who want a natural birth! God has given you a gift, Shekinah!”
“Shekinah helped make my birth experience so great, I’ve entertained the idea of surrogacy just to experience another birth experience like she helped me achieve! I’m so jealous I don’t have a similar experience and story with my first baby. In Shekinah’s preparation to help me achieve my desires she asked me tons of questions that I hadn’t even considered or thought about yet, some of them I’d never even heard of.”
I’m so glad she was there to be my voice, when I was too passive and when I couldn’t communicate because of contractions. When it came to labor coaching, she was great. She told me I was so focused and did most of the work myself (credit again goes completely to Shekinah in sending me the information I needed to prepare), but she helped so much at exactly the right times and exactly when I needed her most. She helped me move positions, get comfortable, manage contractions, suggested position changes when I needed, told my husband what to do and when to do it, explained to him what I was needing and wanting, telling him how to help me so he could be involved.
